Winter Externship for Nursing Students

This special winter break program is for junior nursing students. The program provides a mentored orientation on a variety of adult medical/surgical units, under the direction of a registered nurse. During the winter break, you will work full-time. Following the winter break, you will be able to continue working part-time.

The winter externship offers an opportunity to enhance your clinical skills and increase your confidence in a clinical setting, while receiving a competitive rate of pay. The full-time portion of the program is scheduled for December 19, 2011 - January 20, 2012. Part-time work hours will begin after January 20, 2012.

Program requirements:

  • Completion of the nursing fundamentals course
  • CNA certification
  • Able to work weekends and rotating shifts
  • Able to work three, twelve-hour shifts per pay period (every two weeks)
  • Able to work the Christmas or New Year’s holiday
  • Willing to float to a variety of medical/surgical units
