Nurses at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center’s neurological care unit provide a full range of specialized secondary and tertiary neurological services. Working within a diverse team of physicians and other staff, they care for conditions including stroke, epilepsy, memory disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, neuromuscular problems and many more. Patient population: those with neurological, neurosurgical or ortho-spine problems; surgical/medical overflow Number of beds: 17 Nurse/patient ratio: 1:6 Rotation/shifts: day/night, up to 50%, average 12-hour shift length, no on-call Orientation: 6-12 weeks, every orientee has a preceptor |
