Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides care to a full spectrum of newborns ranging from extremely premature infants, to high-risk and critically ill babies, to less critically ill babies who are recovering and maturing. Our NICU nurses are involved in such challenging areas as multidisciplinary care for high-risk neonates, high-frequency ventilation, high-risk deliveries and pediatric subspecialty consultations.

Our nurses work with a team of board-certified neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners to provide the best care available to newborns. The unit also trains neonatology fellows and nursing students from The Johns Hopkins University and nurse practitioner students from the University of Maryland and other institutions.
