The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides care to a full spectrum of newborns ranging from extremely premature infants, to high-risk and critically ill babies, to less critically ill babies who are recovering and maturing. Nurses at the NICU are involved in such challenging areas as multidisciplinary care for high-risk neonates, high-frequency ventilation, high-risk deliveries, and pediatric subspecialty consultations. Our experienced nursing staff works with a team of board-certified neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners to provide the best care available to newborns. Neonatology fellows and nursing students from The Johns Hopkins University, as well as nurse practitioner students from the University of Maryland and other institutions, are trained here. |
