Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center’s department of ambulatory services offers a wide range of outpatient, hospital-based medical and surgical services. Our ambulatory nurses ensure that each specialty in the department operates within established guidelines so that patients receive the best care possible.

Orientation and Continuing Education

New employees are provided with a personalized orientation based on their previous experience and skill development needs. General orientation classes are conducted by the Department of Nursing, while unit-specific orientation is provided through special training within each department. Nurses also have the opportunity to attend many continuing staff education programs.
 

Nursing Practice

Ambulatory nurses have the opportunity to work a variety of hours, depending on their specific department. Most ambulatory units are open Monday through Friday. Some are open half-days on Saturday or have early-evening hours.
